Deleting your account and data

How to permanently delete your Blueprint account and all associated data.

Updated August 10, 2026 · 2 min read

You can delete your account at any time. This permanently removes the work you have done in Blueprint, with narrow exceptions described below. If you are on a paid plan, deleting the account cancels it too, so it stops renewing at the end of the period you have already paid for.

How to delete your account

Go to Settings, open the Data & privacy tab, and scroll to the Danger Zone. Click "Delete Account" and confirm. Your account is scheduled for deletion and permanently removed after a 30-day grace period.

Deleting ends your access straight away, while your plan stops renewing at the end of the period you have already paid for. If you want to use the rest of that period first, cancel from Settings and delete the account later. Restoring the account within the 30 days brings back a plan that deletion stopped, as long as the period has not already ended. A plan you cancelled yourself stays cancelled, because that was your decision rather than ours. If you are ever charged after deleting, contact support and we will sort it out.

Once the 30-day grace period ends, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Download any essays or data you want to keep before you start.

What gets deleted

Your profile, essays, activity descriptions and notes are removed, along with your college list, matches and progress data. Messages with counselors are deleted too. Some things are deliberately kept, and it is worth being exact about them: transaction records we need for accounting and tax, and the payment-provider identifiers linking them to your Stripe customer record, which is not deleted. Your security audit log is kept but scrubbed, which means the IP address and event details are cleared and the entries stop pointing at you. Support conversations are kept as shells, with the requester details and the text of every message replaced. A record that the deletion happened is also kept, carrying your account type and school if you had one, but not your email or any identifier that could confirm it was you. These are detached records rather than anonymous ones.

If your account is connected to a school, deletion may be managed through the school. If the option is unavailable in your settings, talk to your counselor or contact support.
