College Matchmaker now covers 4,000+ schools
We pulled admissions data, graduation rates, and financial aid stats from every accredited four-year institution in the U.S. Your match list just got a lot more accurate.
By Ricardo Mello
When we first launched College Matchmaker, we had data on about 1,200 schools. That covered the big names but left out hundreds of schools that might be a great fit. Smaller liberal arts colleges, regional universities with strong programs, and schools outside the usual rankings.
What changed
We rebuilt our data pipeline to pull directly from IPEDS, the federal database that every accredited institution in the U.S. reports to annually. That means we now have admissions data, graduation rates, financial aid distributions, enrollment demographics, and program offerings for over 4,000 four-year institutions.
Why it matters
More schools in the database means your match results are more complete. A student looking for an affordable engineering program in the Southeast used to get maybe 15 results. Now they'll see 40+, including schools they've never heard of that might be a better fit than the ones everyone applies to.
