College Matchmaker: find colleges that fit

College Matchmaker uses your academic profile, preferences, and priorities to rank colleges by how well they fit you. Powered by IPEDS data across 4,000+ schools.

By Ricardo Mello

Building a college list is one of the hardest parts of the process. There are over 4,000 four-year institutions in the U.S. and most students end up applying to schools they've heard of, schools their friends are applying to, or schools a ranking list told them were "the best." None of those approaches are personalized to what actually matters to you.

How College Matchmaker works

You enter your GPA, test scores (optional), intended major, geographic preferences, financial priorities, and campus culture preferences. College Matchmaker cross-references your profile against real admissions data, graduation rates, financial aid distributions, and program offerings for every accredited four-year school in the country.

  • Schools scored on academics, affordability, campus fit, and selectivity
  • Filter by region, size, setting, and program availability
  • See where you fall in each school's admitted student profile
  • Save matches directly to your college list for tracking

The result is a ranked list of schools where the top matches aren't the "best" schools in some abstract sense. They're the schools where you're most likely to thrive, graduate, and afford it.
